Peace Arts in Parishes PDF Print

The workshop Peace Arts in Parishes offers a unique opportunity for parish leaders and members to spend an afternoon with the renowned preacher and cartoonist Rev. Bob Haverluck.  The workshop will explore how artists and creative people of all kinds can work at the parish level to contribute to peace building in the community.  Haverluck will present proven strategies from around the world where groups for social transformation use what he calls "the peoples' arts" in peace making.  These include: street theatre, theatre of the poor, poster projects done in the language of ordinary people, and liturgy and preaching.

Rev. Haverluck is currently adjunct professor for theology and the arts at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has held the prestigious McGeachy Scholarship on the Arts & Peace-making and is a frequent presenter of workshops on "Faith, Justice, and the Arts".  He is perhaps best known for his religious cartoons which have been widely published in both secular and religious publications including Harpers magazine (New York), the New Statesman (London) and Kristet Forum (Uppsala).
